Marking Privacy Awareness Week 2023, 1-7 May, Australian privacy regulators urged individuals, organizations and agencies to get "back to basics" on privacy. In a joint statement, regulators from New South Wales, the Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria joined Information and Privacy Commissioner Angelene Falk in noting organizations and agencies should collect only necessary personal information, take steps to reasonably protect it and delete or permanently deidentify data when it is no longer needed.
