The FCC Chair, Jessica Rosenworcel, said last week that she “has circulated a proposed rule among fellow commissioners to begin aligning FCC rules with updates in federal and state data breach laws that cover other sectors.”
"Current law already requires telecommunications carriers to protect the privacy and security of sensitive customer information," Rosenworcel said in last week’s statement. "But these rules need updating to fully reflect the evolving nature of data breaches and the real-time threat they pose to affected consumers."
