On September 17, the Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) announced a settlement with a Florida company and its executives for sending millions of deceptive text messages to consumers.
U.S. District Judge, Gary Feinerman, has banned Rentbro, Inc., Daniel Pessin, Jacob Engel, and any of their employees from disclosing, selling or benefitting from any of the personal data received, including Social Security numbers or any consumer information that provides access to credit cards or financial accounts.
The settlement order requires the defendants to turn over their assets. It also imposes a partially suspended monetary judgment of $377,321.
