Oregon Consumer Privacy Act ("OCPA")
Oregon passed the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act (“OCPA”), which will take effect on July 1, 2024. With the passing of this new law, Oregon becomes the twelfth state to enact a consumer data privacy law. The OCPA gives Oregon residents the rights to confirmation and categories of personal data, access, correct, delete, right to list of third-parties, copy of data, and opt-out of the sale and processing for targeted advertising purposes of their personal information. The enforcement is entirely up to the Attorney General and there is no private right of action for consumers.
