FTC Approves New Rule Provision Under The CAN-SPAM Act

May 12, 2008

The Federal Trade Commission has recently approved four new provisions under the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, aimed at clarifying its requirements. These updates cover several key areas: ensuring recipients can easily opt out of emails without any additional steps, clarifying who is responsible for compliance among multiple advertisers in a single email, allowing the use of registered post office boxes as valid physical addresses in commercial emails, and specifying that the Act applies to entities beyond just individuals. These changes will soon be detailed in the Federal Register.
