FTC Approves iKeepSafe COPPA “Safe Harbor” Oversight Program inked-I

August 6, 2014

The Federal Trade Commission announced that after reviewing public comments, the FTC has endorsed iKeepSafe’s Safe Harbor Program under COPPA, which governs how websites collect personal information from children under 13. This program allows website operators to develop their own compliance programs, offering flexibility and efficiency. Participation in an approved safe harbor program means operators can often follow program guidelines rather than face direct FTC investigations or enforcement actions, promoting adherence to COPPA's requirements.
