In January 2018, the Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) issued guidance for multi-level marketing (“MLM”) businesses, highlighting that despite the industry's diverse structures and sales methods, fundamental consumer protection principles apply universally. This non-binding guidance aims to help MLM companies align their practices with these core principles, ensuring fair treatment and protection for consumers across various MLM models.
