Nevada Passes a Bill SB260 to Expand the Right to Opt-Out of Sales

Last month, the Nevada legislature passed bill number SB260, which amends Nevada’s online privacy notice statutes giving residents an expanded right to opt-out of sales. Once signed by the Governor, it will go into effect on October 1, 2021. This newest update to the existing internet privacy law changes the definition of sale to “the exchange of covered information for monetary consideration by an operator or data broker to another person.” Which means that the change in the definition removes the requirement that the exchange be for the purpose of the other person licensing or selling covered information to additional persons.
