The Internet Advertising Bureau’s (“IAB”) affiliate marketing council announced in June that it was tightening its regulation of vouchers and launched a revised version of its UK Affiliate Marketing Council’s Voucher Code of Conduct guidelines. The council’s self-regulatory set of best practices was developed to accommodate the rapidly growing use of voucher codes by advertisers and consumers and is widely accepted as the standard for affiliate and performance marketing.
The latest revision to the Code is the third, and most extensive, update to the guidelines since it was first drafted in 2008. The goal is to help advertisers and publishers maintain transparency and control over the online distribution of their affiliate codes, which extends to affiliate activity on mobile devices.
