On November 19, the Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) turned its attention to the new aspects of the interconnected digital world, in a workshop called the “Internet of Things -- Privacy & Security in a Connected World.” The public workshop examined the privacy and security implications of everyday objects being connected to the Internet and to each other.
The Internet of Things (“IoT”) refers to the growing number of interconnected devices that have the ability to transmit data through the Internet. They are capable of collecting huge amounts of data and transmitting it back to manufacturers and other third party entities.
