Is the FCC Killing Net Neutrality?

The issue of net neutrality is deservedly one of the hottest topics coming down the pipes of Internet Service Providers (“ISPs”). What if all the websites we had access to expressed the same view? What if it took a lot longer to load our favorite websites? What if we were starting a new online business and, in addition to other startup costs, had to fork over megabucks to our ISP to ensure that our new site merely loads at the same speed as our giant competitors with really deep pockets? Net neutrality is the idea that all Internet traffic should be treated the same way. It allows for a free flow of data, accessible to all customers with Internet access regardless of their provider, and without the provider discriminating access or service quality among sources of traffic. The FCC has maintained that it is entrusted to preserve and protect an open internet. Under former FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski, the Commission’s Open Internet Order was adopted in 2010. The rules requiring transparency and prohibiting blocking and unreasonable discrimination were established...sort of.
