Start with Security: A Guide for Business

The Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) released a guide for businesses that discusses: (a) Start with security; (b) Control access to data sensibly; (c) Require secure passwords and authentication; (d) Store sensitive personal information securely and protect it during transmission; (e) Segment your network and monitor who’s trying to get in and out; (f) Secure remote access to your network; (g) Apply sound security practices when developing new products; (h) Make sure your service providers implement reasonable security measures; (i) Put procedures in place to keep your security current and address vulnerabilities that may arise; and (j) Secure paper, physical media, and devices.
