Franchise Rule Compliance Guide
May 2008
The Federal Trade Commission (“”FTC”) published the "Franchise Rule Compliance Guide," in May 2008, which assists franchisors in adhering to the FTC’s updated Franchise Rule, which became mandatory on July 1, 2008. This guide helps franchisors understand the changes from the previous Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (“UFOC”) guidelines and outlines key provisions of the amended rule, including sample disclosures. While it provides useful explanations and examples, it does not replace the text of the amended rule, which remains the definitive source for compliance requirements. The guide is intended as a supplemental resource to help franchisors meet the new disclosure standards set by the FTC.
