Norway's data protection board rules DPA cannot impose daily fines in cross-border cases

Norway's data protection board, Personvernnemnda, ruled in favor of Meta's appeal of daily fines imposed by Norway's data protection authority, Datatilsynet, for ongoing use of behavioral advertising. The ruling allowed Datatilsynet to uphold its ban on behavioral advertising, however, Personvernnemnda's decision means that daily fines may not be levied by the DPA in cross-border cases.

Mobile game developer settles CCPA, COPPA claims for $500K

California Attorney General Rob Bonta and Los Angeles City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto announced a USD500,000 settlement and corrective measures with a mobile game developer to resolve claims the company violated the California Consumer Privacy Act and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. Tilting Point Media allegedly collected and shared children's data without parental consent.
