US House speaker may allow competing FISA Section 702 renewal bills to reach floor vote

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., may allow competing bills proposing to renew Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to go to the House floor for a procedural vote, Politico reports. The competing bills differ mainly on the extent to which intelligence agencies would be required to obtain a search warrant to review communications data collected under Section 702. The House Committee on the Judiciary scheduled a 6 Dec.
