US national cyber director to visit Japan to promote cybersecurity cooperation

U.S. National Cyber Director Chris Inglis will visit Japan later in December, CyberScoop reports. He is expected to “improve cybersecurity cooperation with a key ally” during heightened tensions between China and the U.S. Inglis is also anticipated to address the threats of Chinese and North Korean hackers with his Japanese counterparts. Japan suffered a series of cyberattacks last year, which led to the leak of more than 70,000 emails from government agencies.

UK releases code of practice to improve app privacy, security

The U.K. released a voluntary code of practice to improve security and privacy requirements on applications and app stores. New measures include improved reporting of software vulnerabilities and enhanced transparency around privacy and security for app users. "Today we are taking steps to get app stores and developers to keep customers even safer in the online world," Minister of State at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Julia Lopez said.
