FTC chair supports Trump plan to make independent agency heads at-will employees

U.S. Federal Trade Commission Chair Andrew Ferguson plans to support the Trump administration's maneuver to empower the president to fire the heads of independent federal agencies, including the FTC, at will, Axios reports. The move would end a 90-year Supreme Court-ruled protection of independent agency administrators from cause-related terminations.

US senators seek to address UK's encryption backdoor request

The Washington Post reports U.S. Sens. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., are asking National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard to demand the U.K. government rescind its request asking Apple to create a backdoor to all encrypted data.
