The European Commission published AI Act guidelines on "practical application of the legal concept" for defining AI systems. The Commission noted the nonbinding guidance "aims to assist providers and other relevant persons in determining whether a software system constitutes an AI system to facilitate the effective application of the rules." The guidelines come as the first AI Act provisions took effect 2 Feb.
The Court of Justice of the European Union Advocate General Dean Spielman issued a nonbinding opinion determining not all pseudonymized data is personal data, meaning EU General Data Protection Regulation application can not be assumed.
