The Belgian Data Protection Authority's Hielke Hijmans announced he is a candidate to replace Wojciech Wiewiórowski as the European Data Protection Supervisor, Euronews reports. Hijmans is the chair of the Belgian DPA's litigation chamber and member of its board of directors. New Mexico claimed in a lawsuit that social platform Snapchat is not doing enough to protect underage users from child predators on the app, The Washington Post reports. Snapchat spokesperson Russ Caditz-Peck said the company shares "concerns about the online safety of young people and are deeply committed to Snapchat being a safe and positive place for our entire community, particularly for our younger users."Full story
