KARK-TV reports Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin was among 19 attorneys general to sign a letter to U.S. President Joe Biden opposing proposed rulemaking to add more reproductive health privacy provisions to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. The opposition comes after 24 other states called for increased privacy protections in June.

CPPA supports four privacy bills

The California Privacy Protection Agency unanimously voted in support of four state privacy bills that support its mission of "protecting the privacy rights of Californians." Assembly Bill 947 would include personal information that reveals citizenship or immigration status as sensitive personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act.

EDPB issues statement following European Commission review of Japan adequacy

The European Data Protection Board issued its formal statement on the European Commission's first review of its adequacy agreement with Japan. The EDPB's main takeaway was "there (were) not substantial changes in the relevant (Japanese) legislation" to allow for authorities to access private sector information that could run counter to the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
