Israel's PPA publishes updated draft data transfer guidelines

Israel's Privacy Protection Authority published a draft opinion for regulations allowing for data transfers to other jurisdictions. The draft changes would allow the PPA to compel owners of databases in countries that do not have data adequacy agreements with Israel to make "required changes" in order for personal data to be transferred to such jurisdictions under contractual agreements. UK DIST to expand services to increase development in privacy, AI

The U.K. Department for Science, Innovation and Technology announced it will expand its services with a variety of experts in data privacy and artificial intelligence to increase digital development. Meanwhile, PrivacyX Consulting Director and former deputy commissioner of the U.K. Information Commissioner's Office Steve Wood discussed potential growth in AI technology and data governance following the U.K.

Delaware launches personal data privacy portal

The Delaware Department of Justice's Consumer Protection Unit launched a personal data privacy portal for individuals and businesses to better understand implications of the Delaware Personal Data Privacy Act. The DOJ will offer additional resources on a rolling basis, but urged businesses to "begin preparing now to ensure that they are ready by the first day the new law becomes enforceable" 1 Jan.

Upcoming CPPA meeting expected to address automated decision-making rulemaking, adequacy status

The California Privacy Protection Agency Board published the agenda for its upcoming meeting 16 July. Key agenda items include an update from CPPA Executive Director Ashkan Soltani regarding California's adequacy with other jurisdictions and potential board action on rulemaking for automated decision-making technology, risk assessments, cybersecurity audits, insurance and updating rules for existing legislation.

European Commission sends RFI to Amazon under DSA

The European Commission issued a request for information to Amazon under the EU Digital Services Act. The Commission is seeking information on Amazon's compliance with DSA transparency provisions related to its product recommendation systems and if customers are able to opt out of being profiled by the recommendation system. Additionally, Amazon is asked to provide information on the design and deployment of Amazon Store's Ad Library, and information pertaining to its risk assessment report.
