At CPS 2024: OPC announces probe into genetic testing company

Privacy Commissioner of Canada Philippe Dufresne used his opening keynote address at the IAPP Canada Privacy Symposium 2024 to announce his office was launching an investigation with the U.K. Information Commissioner's Office into the October 2023 breach of genetic testing company 23andMe. CNIL opens consultation on AI issues

France's data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés, opened a public consultation on the development of artificial intelligence systems. The CNIL seeks comment on seven policies related to development of AI, dissemination of open-source models, web scraping and more. The regulator also published a questionnaire on how the EU General Data Protection Regulation applies to AI models. Public comments are due 1 Sept.
