More than 20 civil liberties groups wrote U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., asking him to not expand the Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act that is set to expire at the end of this year, Wired reports. The program allows the National Security Agency to surveil foreigners for several national security reasons but also captures American communications.

EU gives Meta and Snap deadline to detail children's protection information

The European Commission has given Meta and Snap a 1 Dec. deadline to provide information on how they protect children from harmful content, Reuters reports. The deadline is similar to the one given to Alphabet's YouTube and TikTok. The actions come after the passage of the Digital Services Act which requires major technology companies to do more to combat illegal and harmful content.Full story
