DC data breach could affect entire voter registry list

CyberScoop reports a Washington, D.C., voter breach may have affected all registered voters within the district. It is unclear if information such as Social Security numbers, drivers' license numbers or similar personally identifiable information was extracted. The District of Columbia Board of Elections hired a cybersecurity firm to investigate the incident after learning the data was being offered for sale online.Full story

The European Commission issued the legal framework for publishing audit reports and audit implementation reports for very large online platforms and very large online search engines under the Digital Services Act. Amsterdam court orders advertiser to halt cookie use

The Amsterdam District Court, Rechtbank Amsterdam, ordered online advertiser Criteo to halt third-party cookies use and take corrective measures or face daily fines for noncompliance. Following findings in favor of plaintiff's claim of nonconsensual placement of cookies, Criteo must honor the plaintiff's requests for access, receipt and deletion, while informing third parties of the requests.

Microsoft invests $5B in Australian digital initiatives

The Australian Financial Review reports Microsoft pledged AUD5 billion to the Australian government to bolster cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and cloud-computing capabilities. Notably, the investment includes training programs for 300,000 Australian AI and cloud professionals as well as collaboration with cyberdefense agencies to improve threat identification and response.Full story
