Russia proposes central register of all users' consent

Russia’s Ministry of Digital Development proposed creating a central register of users’ consent. Under the proposal, citizens would be able to view every service they consented to processing their data, such as government agencies, banks and loyalty programs. Users would be able to see the content of the data they provide, withdraw consent on the platform and delete any of their data in one location.Full Story

Proposed American Data Privacy and Protection Act hits House snag

Reality is settling in for the proposed American Data Privacy and Protection Act as ongoing debate over the bill and its preemption provisions led U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., to oppose bringing the current bill to a House floor vote. Pelosi said she will work with House Committee on Energy and Commerce Chair Frank Pallone, D-N.J., on a path to possibly preserve the ability for states, particularly California, to legislate on privacy as they see fit.

Advocates claim edtech providers violate UK children's code

Financial Times reports children’s digital rights group 5Rights accused Google and ClassDojo of violating the U.K. Age Appropriate Design Code, citing issues with the companies' education technology products. Research by 5Rights and presented to the U.K. Information Commissioner's Office and the Department of Education revealed third-party user-tracking methods allowed during use of the edtech products as well as issues with privacy notices for the products.

Lawmakers look to eliminate anti-drunk driving tech from infrastructure bill

Three U.S. Senators are attempting to repeal a drunk and impaired driving prevention technology provision from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, The Dallas Morning News reports.
