Politico reports the U.S. Federal Trade Commission is preparing a broad study on "surveillance pricing," which targets consumers based on personal circumstances. The agency could demand information from companies as soon as August, but plans for the initiative are not final, and it is not yet clear which businesses will be targeted, according to the report.

The Financial Times took a wide-ranging look at the potential hurdles facing EU Artificial Intelligence Act implementation and compliance. Senior EU officials warned against various hurdles to come, including gaps in the legislation that may require a range of secondary legislation to avoid ambiguity and uncertainty. Other potential issues explored include the timely establishment of codes of conduct, properly addressing the relationship between AI and copyright, and standing up the European AI Office.
Privacy advocacy group NOYB published a report examining the positions taken by data protection authorities in various consent banner cases and compared them to European Data Protection Board rulings on violations.
