European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders is an official candidate for the Council of Europe's secretary general position, Politico reports. Denmark's data protection authority, Datatilsynet, decided not to reopen cases related to third-party cookie walls used by JFM and GulogGratis. Both companies appealed the agency's prior decision that neither had demonstrated the processing of personal data collected through cookie placement was necessary.Full story
Florida passed a law to ban minors under 14 from social media even if the users have parental consent, The Wall Street Journal reports. NetChoice Vice President and General Council Carl Szabo, CIPP/US, said the law violates citizens' freedom of speech.

The Artificial Intelligence (Regulation) Bill received its second reading in the U.K. House of Lords 22 March. Initially introduced in November 2023, the private members' bill proposed by Lord Holmes of Richmond, a member of the influential House of Lords Select Committee on Science and Technology, would establish an AI Authority and require responsible AI officers for organizations developing, deploying or using AI.
The Cyberspace Administration of China issued revised rules governing cross-border data transfers, which address reporting standards for security assessments of data exports, Reuters reports. Data generated from commerce, including information connected to international trade and transportation that does not contain personal data or "important data," is not subject to the new rules.
