European Commission soliciting US-based AI policy officer

The European Commission is seeking a policy officer based out of San Francisco, California, to aid U.S. companies' EU Artificial Intelligence Act implementation. More specifically, the position will work closely with the European AI Office on "oversight/supervisory work and monitor developments relevant to compliance of providers and deployers of generative AI models and systems." Report shows depth of ransomware impacts on US schools

Infosecurity Magazine reports a study by Comparitech revealed the effects of ransomware attacks on U.S. schools since 2018. According to the study, more than 8,000 institutions were impacted by 491 recorded incidents. Those attacks included 6.7 million exposed individual records. Impacted schools have collectively spent an estimated USD2.5 billion to recover systems and data, in addition to improving cybersecurity measures.Full story
