Meta considers suspending WhatsApp service in Nigeria following fine

After Nigeria's Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission issued a USD220 million fine to WhatsApp, parent company Meta is now considering suspending app service altogether in the country, TechCabal reports. NOYB sues Hamburg DPA over pay-or-consent cookie banners decision

Advocacy group NOYB filed a lawsuit against Hamburg's Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information over a ruling that allowed pay-or-consent cookie banners on a magazine's website, Euractiv reports. The HmbBfDI received a complaint in 2021 after an individual was confronted with a choice to either receive personalized advertising or purchase a subscription on the German news website Der Spiegel.
