Danielle Citron is the winner of the IAPP Leadership Award, Dominique Shelton Leipzig, CIPP/US, received the Diversity in Privacy Award and the Global Vanguard Award for North America, Christopher Chew, CIPP/A, CIPM, FIP, was presented the Global Vanguard Award for Asia, Onur Korucu received the Global Vanguard Award for the EMEA region, José Alejandro Bermúdez was presented the Global Vanguard Award for Latin America, and Carolyn Lidgerwood received the Global Vanguard Award for Oceania.

The U.K. Information Commissioner's Office will continue to prioritize children's online privacy with a new Children's Code strategy. The code "builds on progress to date" and will focus on limiting the collection of children's data online and how to enforce the law and ensure compliance.
New Zealand Privacy Commissioner Michael Webster called for stricter privacy laws and an increase in funding to combat growing privacy concerns, RNZ reports. Biometric Update reports 104 million people have registered for Nigeria's digital ID program, reaching nearly 70% of its 148 million registration goal. Gaia Marcus will serve as director of the Ada Lovelace Institute after being appointed by the Nuffield Foundation. Marcus previously served as the Spatial Data Unit deputy director within the U.K. Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. In her new position, Marcus hopes to "build on Ada's achievements and strengthen Ada's valued role within the data and AI ecosystem."Full story
The California Privacy Protection Agency released an enforcement advisory focused specifically on California Consumer Privacy Act data minimization obligations relating to consumer requests. It is the first in what is expected to be a line of advisories aimed at promoting voluntary compliance ahead of potential enforcement actions.
